Volunteer: Cooling Center VolunteersHelp our community stay safe during the summer heat! Volunteers are needed on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, to support the Community Cooling Center at 3460 Carter Hill Road, Montgomery, AL 36111. The Cooling Center will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will provide community members with a safe, air-conditioned place to rest, cool down, and stay hydrated. Volunteers will help create a welcoming and supportive environment for guests. Depending on the needs of the center, volunteers may assist with: Welcoming and directing guests as they arriveDistributing water and other available refreshmentsKeeping water and hospitality areas stocked and organizedHelping maintain a clean and comfortable rest areaAssisting with light setup, cleanup, and general center supportProviding friendly, respectful hospitality to community members seeking relief from the heatVolunteers should be dependable, patient, and comfortable interacting with people from a variety of backgrounds and circumstances. No specialized experience is required. The Community Cooling Center is a collaborative effort involving The Salvation Army, the Mid-Alabama Coalition for the Homeless (MACH), and Montgomery City/County Emergency Management Agency.
