Volunteer: Computer Instructor
Over the past two decades, computer use among older adults has doubled, and 67 percent of seniors are now using the internet according to the Pew Research Center. Despite the growing trend towards a more computer-savvy population, however, many older adults fall behind younger generations when it comes to technology adoption. Family Guidance Center of Alabama is looking for a computer instructor who will teach the basics like how to use a mouse, save files, introduction to Microsoft products, checking and sending emails and Zoom. Head Start is a federal program for preschool children, newborn to age 5, from low-income families. Current and prior Head Start parents and members of the community are welcome. Participants will assist with children's activities, classroom duties, light office help and more. Please note that a background check and medical clearance are both required as well as a minimum of 4 volunteer hours per day. Volunteers are needed in Prattville, Millbrook and Wetumpka. This opportunity begins now and will be ongoing for general and targeted social media marketing for Family Guidance Center of Alabama. The estimated commitment is 5 hours per week but could be more heading into special events. (Please note that hours are flexible!)
