Volunteer: Cooper Deck Rebuild

Provide safe access to a backdoor deck. Someone took the homeowner's money for services and did not provide the repairs. She does not have a safe backdoor exit from her home in case of an emergency. The homeowner is 69 years of age and a veteran of the U. S. Army. Her deceased husband was a Marine veteran. With enough volunteers, we will trim shrubbery and scrape and paint backyard storage building. Refreshments and snacks will be provided.

Volunteer: Birthday Kits for Families in Need

For many families struggling with food insecurity, celebrating a child’s birthday can feel out of reach. This project will assemble and donate Birthday Kits to Hearts of Alabama Food Bank for distribution to families in need. Each kit will include cake mix, frosting, candles, party supplies (plates, napkins, balloons), and a birthday card.

We are seeking volunteers to donate items for the kits and join us in packing alongside the Tie and Doll Teen Board. Volunteers ages 14–18 are especially encouraged to participate, giving young people a chance to serve their community in a meaningful way. Together, volunteers will pack kits, decorate boxes with uplifting messages, and prepare them for delivery.

Our organization will provide the containers for the birthday kits, ensuring that all donated items are packaged securely and presented with care.

The goal is to provide families not only with food but also with joy, dignity, and the ability to celebrate milestones together.
