Who We Are
Mental Health America in Montgomery (MHA-M), a local affiliate of Mental Health America, is concerned with all aspects of mental illness and mental health. Founded in 1951, the agency educates, advocates, promotes mental health and assists those with mental illness to learn community living skills and work toward recovery.
What We Do
The work of Mental Health America in Montgomery is driven by a commitment to promote mental health as a critical part of overall wellness and integrated care and treatment with recovery as the goal. Programs offered are: (1) Clubhouse Program - group meetings for people with mental illness to learn community living skills for recovery, enjoy arts and crafts and socialize with others (currently offered virtually); (2) Outreach & Education - distribution of information about mental health and mental illness through round table sessions and annual conference for continuing education credits and through print and digital media; and (3) Operation Santa Claus - providing holiday gifts for people with mental illness who are served by the Montgomery Area Mental Health Authority and other providers.
Update: At this time, MHA cannot accommodate any in-person client services due to the pandemic. Help is needed in the following areas: (1) Donations of funds to purchase gifts for Operation Santa Claus; (2) Building repair work such as refinishing floors and replacing woodwork on the exterior; (3) Clerical work such as helping with mailing lists, filing, social media, etc. You are welcome to sign up for the email list, follow MHA on Facebook, and/or donate and keep up with their changing needs as the current health situation changes. Thank you!
