Help our community stay safe during the summer heat!
Volunteers are needed on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, to support the Community Cooling Center at 3460 Carter Hill Road, Montgomery, AL 36111.
The Cooling Center will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will provide community members with a safe, air-conditioned place to rest, cool down, and stay hydrated.
Volunteers will help create a welcoming and supportive environment for guests.
- Depending on the needs of the center, volunteers may assist with:
- Welcoming and directing guests as they arrive
- Distributing water and other available refreshments
- Keeping water and hospitality areas stocked and organized
- Helping maintain a clean and comfortable rest area
- Assisting with light setup, cleanup, and general center support
- Providing friendly, respectful hospitality to community members seeking relief from the heat
Volunteers should be dependable, patient, and comfortable interacting with people from a variety of backgrounds and circumstances. No specialized experience is required.
The Community Cooling Center is a collaborative effort involving The Salvation Army, the Mid-Alabama Coalition for the Homeless (MACH), and Montgomery City/County Emergency Management Agency.
