HandsOn River Region is seeking enthusiastic and service-minded individuals to serve on the Volunteer of the Year Awards Committee. This is your opportunity to help recognize the region’s most dedicated changemakers and bring our largest annual celebration of volunteerism to life!
About the Committee:
The Volunteer of the Year Awards is one of HandsOn River Region’s signature
community events, honoring outstanding service by individuals and groups across
the River Region. As a member of the planning committee, you will
support the coordination of nominations, selection of judges, and event
planning to ensure a meaningful, engaging celebration.
What You’ll Do:
- Attend regular committee meetings leading up to the event (flexible scheduling available).
- Assist with event planning and logistics, such as venue setup, catering, and program design.
- Help coordinate community outreach, including nomination promotion and media engagement.
- Support judge recruitment and coordination for award selections.
- Provide input and creativity to make the event impactful and inspiring.
Who Should Apply:
- Individuals with event planning, marketing, nonprofit, or volunteer experience—or a passion for community recognition!
- Professionals, students, retirees, and community leaders who want to make a tangible impact.
- Anyone excited about lifting up stories of service and promoting a culture of giving in the River Region.
Committee Type: Development Committee (as described in the bylaws), with opportunity for
appointment to an advisory role.
Timeframe: July 2025- April 2026
Location: Primarily virtual and local meetings in Montgomery, AL
Estimated Time Commitment: 2–4 hours/month
