Now Recruiting: Board of Directors for 2026–2027
HandsOn River Region is seeking passionate, community-minded individuals to serve on its Board of Directors for the 2026–2027 term and beyond. As a board member, you’ll play a vital role in advancing our mission: mobilizing volunteers and connecting people, information, and services to meet local needs and build a strong, caring community.
Board Member Responsibilities:
- Serve a three-year term, with the opportunity to serve up to two consecutive terms.
- Attend bi-monthly board meetings in January, March, May, June, July, September, and November.
- Actively participate in at least one board committee (Governance, Development, or other standing/advisory committees).
- Support key agency initiatives, including community engagement and special events like the Volunteer of the Year Awards and Christmas Clearinghouse.
- Maintain regular attendance; board membership may be terminated after three consecutive unexcused absences or four total absences in a year.
Ideal Candidates:
- Have a commitment to service and volunteerism.
- Bring skills, experience, or connections in areas such as nonprofit governance, fundraising, communications, finance, or community development.
- Reflect the diversity and needs of the River Region community.
Term Start: October 1, 2026
Location: Montgomery, AL (meetings are in-person unless otherwise
stated)
